Taking inspiration from classic arcade ‘Tempest’, we decided to make our game browser based game. The idea was to have the level design like tempest but instead of shooting at the enemies, the player will catch notes and beats of a song. In terms of gameplay, missing notes will decrease the life of the player by one and though there was no penalty for missing beats, catching them will allow the player to have score multiplier.
As for game controls, in order to catch the essence of the arcade games, we were allowed to only have a single button along with directional-pad (4-direction keys for keyboard) as our controls. Since we were trying to make a music game, we decided to use analog controller stick for our directional controls and a foot pedal as our one button.
As we had two engineers in our team, the engineering tasks went very smoothly in tandem. Specifically, I worked on the following components of the game:

- Game Controls - Integrating Xbox controller with the game.
- Game Cheat Code
- Game over and game retry transition.
- Collision Detection and Game Physics
- Game end condition, player lives calculation.
